Dragon!

I got a new dragon! A friend gave it to me for graduation. I couldn't put him with my others cause that area has filled up, so I put him with my shot glasses. According to the box, he is a fire clan dragon and is "deadly and dangerous."

Real ID

This shit's really getting scary. I'm starting to think of Soviet Russia whenever I read the news. We all need to be more educated about this. The Senate shouldn't be able to pass a bill that's barely been discussed and that's attached to other bills. Of course bills for Tsunami relief and giving money to our troupes in Iraq and Afganastan are going to pass.
"The act also calls for new National ID cards which will be essentially driver’s licenses with new, federally mandated information including, but not limited to, biometric data stored in machine-readable areas. Databases of cards will be shared between states and with the federal government." Gizmodo's article
So um... what's to stop people from using that machine-readable technology to steal identity? What's to stop the private industry from selling our information to anyone they want? EVERYONE'S information will be in databases linked in a seamless network all connected to the federal database. The ID will require actual addresses, not PO Boxes, so what's to stop people from attacking judges and cops in their homes. And it's not like this stuff can't be easily faked so terrorists have their own ID cards. And then... what was the point?

I Did It!

yep, i'm officially a college graduate! and of course to celebrate, i drank away my brain functionality. woohoo!! i have since recovered ;) well now i'm onto the age old question of... "now what?" i'll be figuring that out for the next few months. wish me luck. and now, so you haven't accomplished nothing in reading this... here's a picture of my drunk roommate's handiwork...

Lucifer

today i read some interesting things. i'm not going to say what i was reading, but some of you may know or figure it out. i learned where the name "Lucifer" actually came from. in roman mythology, Lucifer was the god of air and enlightenment. It was also the name of the star just before the rising sun. In the Hebrew text the expression used to describe the Babylonian king before his death is Helal, son of Shahar, which can best be translated as "Day star, son of the Dawn." St. Jerome had mistranslated the Hebraic metaphor, "Day star, son of the Dawn," as "Lucifer," and over the centuries a metamorphosis took place. it all makes sense, religion has always discouraged thinking for yourself and doubt. i could go on...alexandria...

i wanted to read his mind, but all i saw was some dry leaves get larger and larger, then shatter like miniature fireworks beneath his shoes.

i was driving home today, tonight. focusing on only the road and the streetlights, i could pretend i was anywhere. the whole way home it comforted me. highways and streetsigns are universal language.

lightning

i saw some amazing lightning on the way home. a couple streaked clear across the sky. i wish i could take pictures of that... even when people and their tediousness bore me, the weather never ceases to amaze me.

Computer Mod

my computer is useful. two drawers hold what will eventually be a firewall (i haven't installed anything yet, but it will probably be OpenBSD) and the top drawer is holding all my extra computer pieces. of course i took pictures...

The Butterfly Effect

i watched that again tonight. it was the first time i watched it since i saw it in the theatre. i don't care what anyone says about ashton kutcher's acting, i think that's a really good movie. that's all

Rainbow

today it rained for most of the day. at one point, the sun was out while it was still raining. we found the rainbow. i found out my camera can take pictures of rainbows. with a little adjustment to the brightness and contrast in iphoto, they stand out really well.

Frank

i like how the colors were more blue. i don't know why i took so many pictures of the cat today.

New Comforter!

I'm excited. I finally got a queen size comforter to go on my queen size bed. No more using two small blankets to sleep. It's dark blue on one side and light blue on the other and it's full of down. Frank likes it too. I spread it on the bed and folded up the old comforter. I turned around to put the old one in the bag and by the time I turned back, there was a big lump on the bed. Then he decided he liked clawing it so I had to quickly put a stop to that new enjoyment.

The Electric Chair

i had a weird dream last night. we were driving and we got pulled over and i guess we had something we weren't supposed to, but the crime was payable by death. after that part, my dream played through both outcomes. first, the one we were sentenced to death. i remember saying, "so everything i've done was for nothing?" and he said "pretty much." i remember dying, but it's hard to think about dying even in your dreams because there's always that concious thought that realizes the blackness. the second part, we went to court and the judge sentenced us, but we got to live. we had to pay $500 and then $50 a month for the rest of our lives.
